Hi, I am researching the Wilson family, does anybody have a picture of Lee Hall, home of John Hays Wilson 1861-1881? Did John H run the waterworks and if so is there a picture of that also, anything would be appreciated. Thanks.

hello ecadman, There's a nice old pic of Lee Hall in the Gateacre & Belle Vale book, and I have a series of City Engineer photo scans of Lee Hall shortly before demolition, sadly derelict and abandoned. John H. was chairman of the Council Water Committee but died in the early days of the project. I've got some old large-scale OS maps of Lee Hall & Park, and I also have some old books about L'pool's water supply, with pics & plans etc. of the Vyrnwy works, the water towers etc; I could try some scanning if you're interested. I could post some reduced-size pics of Lee Hall, or send you the full-size scans on a disc if you like.
Hope this helps,
Regards, Ken

Hello Ken,
I'm presently researching and writing the story of some descendants of the Okill family who came north to Canada from New York colony after the American Revolutionary War. They've had quite a remarkable history in this country and their forbear directly traces back to the marriage in Philadelphia in the mid-1700s of the younger brother of John Okill of Lee Hall.
Could you help me acquire some photos of Lee Hall? The ones you referred to from the City Engineer sound interesting. Perhaps there are also others that show it in better form (a comparison might also be interesting). I will happily credit those responsible.
Cheers and thanks,
Mark Jodoin

Hello Mark, Sorrry it's taken so long to reply, but I now have an eyesight problem which makes it a little difficult using the pc. It sounds an interesting project you're doing; have you seen the old photo in the Gateacre & Belle Vale book, and the 1948 watercolour by A.H.Jones in "Village Liverpool", from the collections in the Record Office. There's also a 1948 watercolour of the Pumping Station , by Jones in the same book. My scans of Lee Hall are very high resolution,so I could send you reduced versions by email, and send the full versions to you on a CD if you like. I also have O.S. plans of the Lee Hall area,
Regards, Ken

I've done a painting of the structure at the corner of belle vale road and lee park avenue. Can any one tell me what it's called or send me a picture of what it originally looked like? I know it as the Lee Park Avenue Obelisk. Am I right? To see my version of it, go to: byjmj.webs.com
