The flowers really brighten the junction up. The traffic is so bad at the lights that every driver has the chance to become a botonist !!

with the winter coming is there any plans for xmas trees or decorations? Gateacre Tanning Studios would be willing to support this (Gateacre Tanning is the user name we wanted but this has been taken)

Always reminds me of Patricia Routledge Gate Acre or Gateacre.
Anyway the village has a long history of Flowers at the crossroads its always been a great pleasure to drive through even the shops and the pubs play thier part.
It almost makes me want to rush home from Belgium ,Liverpool and its villages are so briliant compared to here. Only Germany can hold a candle to them.

Sorry this is a couple of weeks late.
I passed through Gateacre village about 3 weeks ago, the first time in about 20 years, and the floral display was outstanding.
I don't know who looks after this (I am sure it's not the Corpy) but they deserve a big thank you and pat on the back from both local residents and the thousands who pass daily through the village.
Having lived in Germany for the past 25 years I can confirm that the Germans do decorate their villages quite well in some regions but this made me quite proud to hail from Gateacre.
Well done and thank you to all concerned.

I just read your input, like yourself I have been living abroad for over 40 years in switzerland and although here they also like to put flowers on most of the balconies there is nothing like an English garden. When the grass gets cut here, even after all these years, I still think of the past, my childhood days in Gateacre, Liverpool. I still would like to know the reason for demolising the COMP! and where is the school now or even better what will be built on the old school grounds? :-(

June,
I passed the Comp on the same day as Angela still lives near there.
It looked quite stury and undemolished to me. I am sure the future of the place has been documented in here but I will try and find out what the exact state of play is with the place.
Funny thing about schools, most of us hated them whilst attending but now remember only the salad days.

Was up in Sainsburys Woolton the other day . And there were people in the foyer collecting for the flower displays up in Woolton. Wonder if the' Friends of Gateacre ' carry out the same collections for the Gateacre Flower Displays ?
