I was yesterday on the BBC message boards and one off the talks was about Mixed Grills and what made a good one. In my travels i use to visit the Nautical Catering College in Liverpool and they use to have on their menu a superb Savoy Mixed Grill. I recently went into a pub in Gateacre that will be name less and would say I proberly tried to eat what was the worst Mixed Grill in the UK. Have you ever heard of Cajun Chicken in a Mixed Grill, or half a raw tomato. But this is what was served up. I recently went into a pub /resturant in near by Aigburth and asked for a steak and the waitress said we only serve steaks on a thursday. my wife and I left in pleats . But things must get better with lots of new resturants opening in south Liverpool, I hope .

I think I know where you went and you're absolutely right, it's one up from a McDonalds
A great place to eat I think, is Pepperpots in Woolton Village
I have lived in Gatecare for 17 years but only recently realised that this is a great restaraunt and not just a coffee bar, which for some reason is what I always thought it was (maybe the name pots just stood out..I don't know)
Anyway, my wife and I now visit regularly, and it's a great place for parties
Great music, lovely atmosphere, pleasant surroundings, super service, and the food is fabulous!
Give it a try and let me know what you think

Must try it Keith.
Keith do you have any relations that lived in Gateacre and Halewood in the 1900's.
