Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me where to get a copy of the painting which depicts what the old Belle Vale Farm looked like. It was situated on Wambo Lane. It is featured in the Gateacre & Belle Vale book and says it is courtesy of Liverpool Records Office. However I am struggling to find where to be able to get a proper copy of it and my mother would love a copy of it. Thank you for any help provided.

Hi Elaine I would be grateful if you could email a copy of the farm house on wambo lane as that is where I have lived for over 20 years. There used to be some lovely pivtures in Morrison cafe showing cottages etc in Wambo Lane which where taken down. I did ask if there was anychance of buying one of them. I was told they had gone missing in he refurb. Then I was later told by a worker there that they where on the wall in the managers office pfft. Regards Carol

Hi All, Sorry it's taken a while for me to reply. Paul - re. Jones Farm Road; this was named after potato farmer Horace Jones, the last tenant farmer of Lee Hall Farm (hence "Jones' Farm"). The farmhouse stood across the drive at Lee Hall and was purchased in 1953 by the new Golf Club, who built the present Club House on the site of the farmhouse.
Hello Elaine & Carol, I would suggest contacting the Record Office for hi-res scans of pictures. They've been very helpful to me in the past. Have you seen F.Beattie's painting of "Harrison's Farm, Belle Vale Road, Gateacre 1911" in the book "Village Liverpool" by Kay Parrott 2009. This was apparently a view of Belle Vale Hall Farm from Wambo Lane.
Regards, Ken

Thanks Ken, Turns out one of my neighbours knew Horace Jones and has told me that prior to the compulsory purchase of the farm it was a horses rest

I lived first on Braehurst ave in the Prefabs then moved to Hartsbourne avenue, our school faced Wambo Lane . In the Prefab Wambo lane had a dairy and greengrocers .when Hartsbourne avenue And Our Ladys schools were built the "corpy " had a yard there. I remember collecting rags and jam jars that we could sell for pennies this was around 1955 to 1966 I moved out of Childwall in !973
