does anyone know where i can get an ordnance survey map from 1950 of gateacre or surrounding aeas

Hi Modavies, You can order all kinds of OS maps on their website www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/ but I don't think the very large scale maps were produced for Lee Park/Gateacre in the 50's & '60's. It's worth enquiring though. I've got the one-inch OS published in 1952, but it's too small to show much real detail of the area. The nearest I've got is the street map c.1959 which I've posted parts of in the Netherley thread, and which shows all the streets on the prefab estates etc. I'd be quite happy to post any portions of these if you wanted, Cheers, Ken

what i want to know is where whinhurst rd which was pre fab was situated so can look whats there now?

Hi modavies, Whinhurst Road ran alongside Childwall Valley Road, you can see it on this 1959 map. The Childwall Valley estate was still being built, and Jacko's Pond & Gorsey Cop were still there. It's all completely changed now, of course, and there's a road called Shrewton Road where Whinhurst used to be. Ken
