Dear all, As part of the closing of Gateacre School, I did a huge amount of colation of images in association with the school.
As part of this I produced two products... 1. A Book containing a picture of EVERY classroom, alongside construction images, historical images, aerial photos and opening descriptions of the school. 2. An interactive CD giving a virtual tour of the entire school including a picture of EVERY room, a picture of practically every angle from outside, videos, and a second set of images of each room during the clearing out (from the Guardian era).
If anyone is interested in one of the books, I only have 10 available (unless they prove noteably popular in which case I'll get more printed). They cost £7.50 each. The CD contains a huge amount more and costs the same price as the book.
I'm just wondering if anyone is interesting in these products for memorys sake as I am not planning on marketing/plugging them.
Thanks all, Adw

Hi Alanwilson04, I would be very interested in your book/cd. I remember the new school building being built while I was a 1st year pupil at Craighurst Annexe, waiting for the new Comp to be opened, so I was among the first intake of pupils. U haven't been contributing to the forum as I have ongoing eyesight problems, but I would be happy to pay for a copy of your material if you still have any available,
Cheers, Ken

I would highly recommend the Gateacre Comp book to any ex-pupils or indeed to anyone interested in its story. It is packed with photos old and new, plus plans of each floor. For example, who remembers the statue sculpture thingummy next to the small pool in the courtyard, well there it is in the historic photos section! Alan is currently updating a CD of the book, with hi-res pictures, to include photos of the demolition. The Gorsey Cop book is likewise packed with information and photos. Pupils at the Comp from 1961, like myself, will probably remember Gorsey Cop as a seemingly deserted old house at the top of Grange Lane, but apparently there was more going on than met the eye! All in all, two great books on little known aspects of local history, with many photos and building plans now deservedly available to all.
Thanks for all the work Alan,
Ken
