If anyone has any questions about Gateacre and the buildings and people who lived there - Read the new Local History - and you will see the walks - and they will answer a lot of questions I think - all very interesting. These were all thoroughly researched by a group from 'Gateacre Society' and date from 1970's We used to walk along the routes and we would be told all about the old buildings, and who lived in them. If you read the Halewood Road walk ? you will see who previously lived in St. Gregorys..... i think. Joan

Or go direct to gatsoc.atwebpages.com/history/walks/index.htmlThe notes cover Gateacre Village, Grange Lane, Gateacre Brow, Rose Brow, Oakfield Avenue, Sandfield Road, Belle Vale Road, Halewood Road, Beaconsfield Road, Woolton Park and Acrefield Road. A mine of information about the buildings and people of Gateacre over the past 200 years.

I would like to say a huge thanks you to all the volunteers for their efforts, for the info, chats and wonderful historical pics on show in the Village Green to commemorate Gateacre & Woolton centenary events on Sat. I took part in the Blue Badge walks & learnt so much of the area I live in (Thanks for setting up Mike). From the prominent architect that designed the "bank" on the corner of Sandfield rd to the famous occupants of the many Villa's & mansions in the immediate area. The listed walks mentioned in this thread are well worth reading. Many thanks
