If anyone would like to see Photographs of Halewood, Gateacre and Childwall Cheshire Lines Railway Stations . Google ' Disused Stations'.
Apart from the Photographs it also gives the dates when the Stations were opened and unfortunately closed.

Childwall Cricket Club, now defunct, used to stand ajeacent to Childwall Railway Station at the bottom of Well Lane and it was here that the members of Liverpool Cricket Club assembled while awaiting the opening of their new ground at Aigburth. The Liverpool cricketers were forced to leave their home at Wavertree in 1878, as the land was earmarked for development and were grateful for the kindness shown to them by the members from Childwall during the three years they spent in exile. The present Liverpool Cricket Ground opened in 1881 with a match against Childwall

Hi Max, I always thought Childwall Cricket Club was just up Childwall Abbey Road opposite the Vicarage. I was born just by Childwall Station and even in the 1940's do not recollect any cricket field at the bottom of Well Lane . It was all farm land .

Sorry Geoff your more likely than not right as I only got the info from the local newspapers.(Sez alight at Childwall Station) I do however, know that the annual Quiots match, played between Liverpool and Childwall, had its origins with the cricket players as it is mentioned in the club records at Aigburth. I grew up in Woolton but have a interest in all local history.
