Hi all,
Just canvassing opinion here before taking things further.
We have lived in one of the old cottages near the lights for about 8yrs and have always parked on the pavement...when moving in we were told not to worry as everybody who lives here had done the same for many years (as indeed have we for the past 7 or so years) and the police have even said they're fine with us doing so.
However, this week we've found out that parking attendants have been told to target the area and as such we are no longer able to park there. Our solution is to apply for residents bays to be set up on the pavement so today we have been to see a local councilor who is looking into it for us before we take it further.
Another (less appealing) option would be to challenge the listing status so we can add driveways (nice ones, not tarmac!) and park off the road.
What he did warn of was that the Gateacre Society were liable to challenge anything we did so while we wait for his initial findings, I was wondering what people here thought and whether anybody has any other ideas?

hi mart, I know what you mean about the parking, my dad used to park outside our house, but that all changed in the early 60s, and they put the traffic lights there, as prior to that belle vale road and the brow was just straight up, there was a halt sign at the end of halewood road, and grange lane was unadopted and a rough lane up to childwall abbey. In the fifties I used to play on gateacre corner on my bike and I was only small about 3 or 4, could you imagine that now?I dont think you will get permission to have driveways, but they may allow parking bays as long as there is enough space for pedestrians, always bareing in mind disabled and the blind, while i sympathise with your parking problems I would not like to see the frontage changed, best of luck, but the cottages are listed and in a conservation area , which does not help but you never know.
