Re Childwall House i clicked on the link and if go to there links you will see Lime studio's on 10 acre's of the former Childwall Hall this probaly covers the land Childwall House stood on. They film Hollyoaks there. All for now mike.

Hi Folks, Just to clarify something for you. The real name of 'Jacksons" farm was 'Childwall house 'farm. The farmhouse stood at the bottom of Well Lane past the railway bridge on the left. There is a row of houses on the right side of Well Lane that were tied cottages for employees. I believe they are still there. My parents lived in #6 at the time I was born in 1938. We later moved to Coxhead farm and left there when I was about 10/11. A great site for history is www.childwall.info/#/aboutme/4531897988The guy who writes it is a local historian,

Childwall website Called Childwall House is Carrolls Farm * ( they bred Poultry) this was at the bottom of Well Lane on the right. As you rightly say Harrisons Jacksons farm was on the left. Hello there No have checked this out and it's not there now apparently. There's a photo of it at www.childwall.infoOne of the branches of my family were living there in the 1851, 1861 and 1871 census so that's how I came across the place. Then found the photo through internet search. It's also shown on the Roby section of the map on this website www.leverpoole.co.uk/lancs1838.shtmSorry these aren't pasting as links. Tricia Hello Tricia , sorry I missed your message. Well Lane was a lonely place in the 1940's so it must have been very isolated in the 1800's. When I was a lad if it snowed heavy and it did in those days the few people that lived down there were more or less cut off. But many worked on Jacksons Farm so lived off the land as they say. And most country people had their own vegetable garden and chickens anyway.

Hello Hulmegrandson I have only just discovered this site. My husband's mother was a Hulme. She was Eva,the daughter of Charles Arthur. I also have the photo of your uncle outside the petrol station. I also have a photo of Constance, another daughter of Charles Arthur. I can remember my husband talking about Rita and Iris. I have quite a lot of research on the Hulme family and am quite willing to share it with you. Do email me if you are interested.

Dear all, as some may know, I've been researching the Crying Tree (Grange Manor/Gorsey Cop) history. That led me to a local grave yard in which I noticed this grave. The Hulmes pictured below ran/owned Gorsey Cop Farm (I think) Henry Hulme, Wife Elizabeth, Mary Edith Hulme and Branley(?) Hulme

I posted on this site a couple of months ago, but have not had any replies. Do I take it that this site is no longer in use. I cannot e mail anyone as all emails are hidden. Such a pity.

Hulme Hello, I have been away for a while, but I am very interested in your research. I am a Hulme descendant. My grandmother was Annie Hulme, daughter of Charles Hulme and Sarah Young. The family you mention - Elizabeth would be Elizabeth Langshaw. Is the stone in good condition? For some reason I can't view the picture. I am wondering if it may actually read Stanley. They did have a son of that name. Hope to hear from you.
