There was a meeting at Gateacre CofE school about building a youth club next to the Church, it was decided to ask the good people of Gateacre to contribute towards the building, A group of us had rounds I collected each week from Lineside and Stellamore Road and we raised the money is a surprisingly short time If I remember correctly it was built about 1965/66. Princess Margaret opened it officially and the helpers and members were invited. I was Secretary for a while Mr Lloyd was the first leader and Mr Siviter the Vicar was also involved.

Hi! Am new to this game. I grew up in Gateacre at 87 Besford rd, last house right on Wambow Lane and Ido remember shaking hands with Maggie when she opened the boys club. Used to be a chior boy at Saint Stevens. Remember the labour club and the place my dad sent me to buy parafin from a guy named Alf.Went to Besford rd school, first teacher was Mrs Davis swear she was 7 feet tall, then went to Gateacre Comp Mr Isaac home teacher learnt nothing as you can see by my grammer.Had paper routes all over delivered to Mr Hughs across from the nuns hung out.Left in 80s , made a lot of money now living on Salt Spring Island of the west coast of Canada.TALK TO ME GUY`S
