Hi anyone who is still live on this site. My brother has just made me aware of it and so here I am. I lived in Lineside Road from 1953 - 1958. Having read some of the old messages Memories came back. I am sure Mrs Guy who had a small holding near the Gateacre railway station was my mums friend, She was a lovely old lady who made very potent elderberry wine, which I believe she partook of in great quantities. Our Doctor was Dr. Ellenbogen, who also had a surgery in Woolton. One of our neighbours was the Blackstone family, there was mum dad and 3 girls. I remember the first Dentist on the new estate, a Mr Tony Hudaly,(Spelling?) My mum and I used to clean his surgery. I attended Our Lady of the Assumption church which was quite a walk from Lineside Road. Any body remember the Co-op by the railway being broken into in about 1954, it was the crime of the year then.

HI
Sorry for the delay in replying but I really didn't think anyone would pick up on my memory!I am not sure how this site works, so I am not sure who I am replying to. But yes the Blackstone girls were Sylvia(eldest) Esther (Middle) and Angela the youngest. The Mum was Miriam, they were the only jewish family in the area and as I remember at that time they came in for a lot of stick. My mums name was Maud. I went to St.Anthony of Padua school in Green Lane, so had to get the bus from the village to school. I went on to Notre Dame Grammar in Liverpool. The other family I recall had two girls Freda (the younger girl) and I can't remember her older sisters name...ejjdp, yes I think they lived at number 5 Lineside. We first lived at 17 and then moved to 2.

I love this site Have been racking my brains about Freda's family and I think I have recalled a few more detailsof the family in number 5 Lineside. Freda's father was Eric and I am not sure if the sister was Barbara(Babs) or whether that was the mum. I think their surname was Thomas. I remember Eric had a car, very posh for those days, and they looked after me whilst my mum was in hospital. One time they took me to Benlech Bay on holiday, again a very Posh thing at that time. I love this site it brings back so many memories. I wasn't allowed out to play very much so I don't know a lot of people, but the name Fairclough rings a bell. Most of my friends were connected with school, so for juniors, they lived in exotic places like Penny Lane and Aigburth. Hilday Fisher,Wendy Shepherd, Peter Morgan, Sheila Biddlestone, Christine Forbes. From High school, they mostly lived in Woolton as mentioned before. I do remember an incident in one of the prefabs in Stellamore Road. I cannot remember the names but they had two girls and a large Alsation dog. The dog bit the youngest girls and she suffered rather severe facial injuries, I know it was a huge news story at the time. Also I am sure it was the same family, there was an accident where one of the family had fallen and some knitting needles had gone right through their neck, again a huge story at the time. Any one remember these incidents?

My Grandma lived opposite Renee. We lived further down Lineside. Renee moved near Warrington after she married and lived in the same Road as me, we became good friends, her eldest daughter was the same age as my son. Sadly Renee died about 1971/72 leaving two young Daughters it was very very sad. I remember her Mum and Dad Charlie a lovely Man.

Hi Babs/ejjdp/Susan
well it is just like the Egyptians who believed we would all have a 2nd coming....wow. Babs I had a private e.mail from Freedy Liz, and have replied to her. Ejjdp, I also lived just outside Warrington in Penketh. Susan thanks for passing on the information to Freda.
Babs, long long ago memories, do you remember the people at number 11, Merle Alice Heizly? being born, I think Freda was probably too young. Do you remember the man at No 4 Dying? He had been working in Africa and came home with a terrible disease that was virtually unknown then. He left a wife and I think it was 2 very young children. The home was quarantined and no-one was allowed in or out?I think we had to send food in for the family until they fumigated the house. Do you remember who lived next to the Blackstones, almost opposite you? I recall being friends with their daughter but can't for the life of me remember their names. Don't remember going to Garston Baths, I never learned to swim. Did go to woolton baths with the school, waste of time that was! IF you would like to keep in touch send me a private message with the name of your lovely spaniel who we teased mercilessly!

Smutty was the name of the spaniel and we have a photo of him at the caravan we went to in Benllech Bay. Eight of us travelled in one car (4 adults and 4 children) and Smutty on the floor. Do you remember that Barbara and Freda? Wouldn't be allowed now!
