I was born in what was then number 12, no hot running water and an outside loo. 2 up and 2 down and I lived there untill 1976. What type of information where you looking for? If I can help I would only be too willing. If you have any names I could confirm if I have heard of them but memories are now beginning to fade

Guilty as charged on all accounts but you do have me at a disadvantage as I can not recal any Jackanory's in my life.

hi steve, You were only a little lad when me and Anne Talavera used to go round to mary winbergs, we were Marys friends , I was hilary, your mum will remember us. we used to confide in her all our boyfriend troubles, the cottages were very small, but there was a great sense of community there, Mary got married and went to germany.I still keep in touch with her, I also recall going to calderstones park with you and billy, mary and anne , hope your mum and dad are well, nice to chat to you, regards from hilary{jackanory}

Gosh Hilary you are going back a few years, if you took me and Billy to Calderstones Park you must be talking 1962 when I was 2 because Billy died when I was 3. I was a page boy at Mary's wedding supposedly dressed as a Scotsman but with a tarten mini skirt and schoolgirs white socks. I would have loved to ask my mother about you but unfortunately she and my father died within 12 months of each other 4 years ago now. I would really love to visit a cottage and see the inside again. I believe Mary's sister Betty still lives in the same cottage as the Winbergs. Please say Hello to Mary for me next time you are in touch.

hi ejjdp, we may know each other, i went to the comp in 1960, but first we were put in craighurst school and the 2nd building wasnt complete, mary was a couple of years older than me, you may remember david talavera, annes brother, he would be in that year with you, was miss kerr there when you went?,she was deputy head, mr hughes was the head, i got the cane off miss kerr for being late three times in one week, and it was only a couple of minutes each time, they were quite strict on that.

I do indeed remember David Talavera he was in my class at Gateacre C. of E. I am a few years older than you because I was in the first intake of the Comp. as were David and Mary. Miss Kerr came a bit later. Another villiage girl I remember was Ann Falkner they lived in Sandiford Road (is that the one near the Chapel) and along Halewood Road Valerie Ellis.Gosh to think we are all pensioners now.

Hi All, I knew a Micheal talavera who lived in the cottages between Morphets the butchers and the bus stop.I am assuming he was related to David and Anne as their surname is what you would describe as un-common.He was a couple of years older than me and we both had a mutual friend in brian Whitehead who lived in Belle Vue Road.
