I have lived in this area most of my life, on Belle Vale road, Naylorsfield and Lee Park.
While I was growing up, there were lots of ghost stories. Most were clamed to be true. I was wondering if anyone remembers any of them. What I would like to do is try to see if any of the stories have any sort of truth about them. For example, Gateacare Hall Hotel (before it was demolished), was supposed to be haunted by the “Blue Lady” What I would like to know is who was she?
She is not the only ghost supposedly roaming the area does anyone remember the “Grey Lady”, who is supposed to haunt the old railway line?
I know to some people it is a silly subject, but hey, it’s only a little fun.

Not off the top of my head, no.
I think past generations –- including mine (b. 1971) -- put more stock in all things supernatural. I went to Belle Vale School and, as children, we frequently shared ghost stories (most of them were complete fabrications and others embellished). Today, thanks largely to scientific study, less people are prepared to consider or tolerate such tales.

I recall talk of the so-called 'White Lady' (I suppose two miles further along the loopline she was probably known as the 'Silver Lady', and so on).

Hi Smart, back in the 60s & 70s I knew people who would not walk through the short cut from the Nook to Lee Park, after dark as sightings had been reported by the railway bridge of a lady looking down from the railway line.I walked through there many a time after dark and saw nothing.Did see a body one night under the bridge but he turned out to be drunk and had fell over (must admit it gave me a jolt)

What I have noticed and heard are foxes coming in from the fields behind the Nook . They possibly raided the bins at the old Gateacre Hall. They work their way around the local roads of a night looking for food. The sounds they make as they call each other is scary and I can imagine that would added to the area around the Nook being Haunted.

I work in the belle vale shopping centre and there is a ghost of a woman on the underground where the staff rooms and loading docks are. When my manager first started she went into the toilet and the door started rattling, she laughed thinking it was us messing around but with her coming in early in the mornings nobody was in yet and now she won't go downstairs by herself. The ghost has also been caught on camera by the Sayers loading docks.
