Hi everyone
Just come back from St Stephens church just been to my Neices daughters Christening havnt been in for donkeys years so many memories. I danced in the gardens their when I was about 8 or 9 with other pupils from Belle Vale school I remember my and other names being in the echo over this dance but I cannot for the life of me remember why we danced there.
The church hasnt changed one bit. Went on to the Old youth club for refreshments afterwoods boy has that changed what a shame it has been left to rot but apparentley they have been given money to do the place up I hope that this will happen and the community do use it it may not be as old as the church but it is certaintly is part of the recent history of Lee Park that I think needs to be kept. It was strange going up Lee Park Ave it is so different with all the masionettes now gone especially at the top also the big sqaure that used to be near the Lee Park Hotel so much has changed I suppose thats progress?
Coming home going up Baileys lane my husband said on the left use to be humphries farm apparently there were two farms with that name he was telling our daughter all that he got upto in those days how he walked all the way from Lee Park to Runcorn, to the Queens Hall in Widnes to see bands and he also told of the members of bands that lived just round the corner from him in Lee park I remember standing listening to them as well I dont remember who they were I think they were the merseybeats but not sure.
Enough for now but I did enjoy going back to St Stephens
