Hi everyone, I have been reading the memories of you all since Ken started this Forum. I have always said must join in with memories of my own. My family moved to Lee Park from Speke in Aug 1957. My older brother and two of my sisters were born in the prefabs by Belle Vale school before the move to Speke were I was born ,as crazy as it sounds I remember coming to view the house in Woodlee Rd with my mum& dad before we moved in.those were the days before the shops & the pub were built.growing up in Lee Park was to me was something so special so many children of all ages living all over the estate. What an adventure,as the estate grew and the building finished and the" Ring the circle the square"whatever you wanted to call it was completed where most of us from Woodlee,Lee Hall, the Avenue and all played with no fear .I remember the old shops as many of you recall and the places we could walk to again without any reservations. My first school was Out lane then I went to Belle vale before going to Gat C of E any excuse to stay with me mum ha as I hated school from a young age about 3 years old I think .Somewhere amongst the family photos we have pictures of the flats in different stages of being built ,I will put them up when I come across them . I could go on forever as some people say I do but I will sign of for now but beware I will be back bye for now

I remember yours was a big family living next door to the Corcorans, I always tell my girls and husband that we had the best time ever growing up as we all played together and we knew everyone who lived in Woodlee Road and had a fabulous child hood. We moved to Woodlee Road when I was about 2 years old, I remember sitting in the front of the removals van with my big sister Joyce, mum said I was 2 though it does seem very young to rememeber, tho I definitely do!!!

For those who attended Gateacre Comprehensive in the early '60s as well as for those who lived in the Lee Park prefabs at that time and who remember Grant McCulloch, who went on from leading the highly successful school football team to playing for Liverpool FC, there's an interesting article titled 'Having tea with Shankly in my Prefab; Flash back.' by Grant which is now archived but findable by entering its title into Google and which will bring back vivid memories of both the Comp and of Lee Park!
